Post-Operative Information

The care following a procedure will depend on the specific procedure. Please follow the advice and instructions given to you personally by your Doctor and the staff at MIGYNAE.  A more specific set of instructions will be included in your surgery pack relative to your specific procedure.

What to expect of hospital and recovery times

  • Minor laparoscopic procedures for conditions such as mild endometriosis and removal of ovarian cysts is a day procedure and possibly one night in hospital. The patient will usually recover and return to their normal routines in 7 to 10 days.
  • Major laparoscopic procedures for conditions such as treatment of severe endometriosis and a laparoscopic hysterectomy usually requires one or two days in hospital. The patient will usually recover and return to their normal routines in 2-3 weeks.

What to be mindful off

Following recent surgery, it is imperative that you contact the rooms of MIGYNAE if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Excessive bleeding
  • High temperature
  • Abnormal discharge

The rooms can be contacted on 9500 1828  between 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and Dr Ang and Dr Kathurusinghe can be contacted via their paging service after hours on 9387 1000

Most sutures used by our surgeons are absorbable and don’t require removal.

All details of your surgery will be forwarded to your nominated General Practitioner.

Look after yourself!

You have just had a General Anaesthetic, so over the next 24 hours, make sure you get adequate rest, no heavy lifting or housework, don’t drive a car, drink alcohol, operate machinery or sign legal documents.

What to take home

  • Remember to take home any medications prescribed for you or any you have brought to the hospital
  • Keep surgery pack nearby and refer to specific instructions regarding the after care for your specific operation.
