The “Victorian Heath Service Guidance and Response to Covid 19 Risks” has been developed to inform health services processes in response to changing risks of Covid 19 transmission in the community.
The guidance covers such topics as:
- Personal protective equipment use
- Health care worker testing
- Patient pre-operative testing and screening
- Elective surgery
- Outpatient consultations
Under the current highest risk rating of “COVID Peak” which applies to the entire State of Victoria as of 23 August 2021, specialist outpatient appointments such as attending our rooms at 339 Glenferrie road, Malvern specifically states the following:
Face to face outpatient appointments are to be conducted only by exception and risk assessment should be undertaken before conducting these appointments.
In accordance with these guidelines Migynae has decided to suspend face to face consultations as of 13 October 2021 until end of January 2022 – except in cases where a procedure or an examination is to be performed.
All specialists at Migynae have public health appointments and work across multiple sites in order to continue to offer care. In doing so, they expose themselves to more sites and places than most of the general public. Limiting exposure to as many people as possible is the goal. It is in the interests of your health and safety as well as that of our doctors that drives this decision.
Those patients deemed to require a face-to-face appointment are asked to follow the link below to assess risk:
A modified Face to Face consult means that you arrive at the rooms and notify staff via phone that you have arrived and wait in your car. The doctor will ring you at the assigned time to conduct your appointment. The start of your consultation will be conducted in this manner and when necessary, you will be asked to come into the rooms to finalise any part of your consultation that requires Face to Face interaction with the aim of minimising exposure times to reduce the risk of Covid-19. All other appointments will be conducted by either a Telehealth phone consult or a Telehealth Zoom consult.
If attending the rooms:
All doctors & staff at the clinic practice Hand Hygiene and high-touch surfaces are disinfected regularly. Cleaning of equipment and surfaces occurs in between each patient.
We continue to apply physical distancing to consultations & examinations, reducing the amount of close contact, with personal protective equipment (PPE) as appropriate, including eye visors, face masks, surgical gowns/gloves. Unless there is a specific exemption, all patients are expected to continue to wear face masks.
Migynae has recently conducted a ventilation assessment at the premises at 339 Glenferrie Road, Malvern and have subsequently installed HEPA filters where open doors or windows are not an option. These filters remove 99.97% of aerosolized virus particles in the air and provide an extra layer of protection in settings with high occupancy turnover.
Anyone attending the rooms will be required to have their temperature taken on arrival and sign in via our QR code. Depending on the current COVID status you may be required to commence the consultation via telephone/audio conferencing.
The waiting room is limited to 4 persons at a time, with physical distancing. Please avoid bringing accompanying persons.
The Delta Variant:
The delta variant of Covid -19 is highly contagious and requires extra vigilance. Therefore even if you have the mildest of symptoms we ask you to stay home and get tested. Furthermore, prior to your appointment we kindly ask you to check the latest exposure sites via https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/exposure-sites and to refrain from attending our rooms if you are expected to isolate according the Vic Health advice.
MIGYNAE thanks you for your understanding during these difficult times and appreciates your patience with our doctors and staff as we implement Covid safe measures.
